Thanksgiving Day is a holiday and the objective is to give thanks to God for blessings received during the year.
In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October and in the USA it is on the fourth Thursday of November. The Native Americans also celebrated the end of the harvest season.
It became an annual tradition in 1863, when Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of thanksgiving which is celebrated on Thursday, November 26. Thanksgiving is one of the biggest holidays of the year.
The "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated to give thanks to God for giving the settlers safety in the New World. The first Thanksgiving feast lasted three days.
